James had his first bottle today, taking 10 cc. He then nursed, getting an additional 15 cc. Learning to eat is the big hurdle before going home, so we're stepping up efforts to give him a lot of practice.
After some discussion we asked the nurses to hold off on any more bottles for now, until breastfeeding is better established. Robin is trying to get in for 2-3 feeds per day, which is challenging since Marina still hasn't returned. James seems to have the technique down, but his interest is very erratic right now; he just gets so tired. He nursed 15 cc at the morning feed, and only 4 cc in the afternoon.
He's been on room air since yesterday, and weight is 5 lbs. 3 oz.
